The Business of Birth: Why Maternal Health Advocates Need to Talk to Investors Actor Tatyana Ali's advocacy for Black maternal health, inspired by her own traumatic childbirth experience, has brought attention to a pressing issue: the disproportionate rate at which Black women in the US die from childbirth related complications compared to white women.

According to statistics, Black women are three to four times more likely to die from these complications.

To address this disparity, Ali is promoting investment in midwives, doulas, and other birth workers who can provide critical support during pregnancy and childbirth.
