Japan's Hamster Horror: A Culture of Cruelty or a Lonely Soul?

The arrest of a 36 year old high school staff member in Iwate, Japan, on charges related to the massacre of around 50 hamsters in love hotels has sparked widespread outrage.

The suspect, who has been arrested twice, was involved in two separate incidents: one in which he killed 30 animals at a love hotel in late March and another in which he stomped to death approximately 20 hamsters in February.
