Burnham urged to boost paternity leave

The Paternity Leave Paradox: Can Labour Deliver? The push for increased statutory paternity leave has gained significant momentum within the Labour ranks.

Over a quarter of their MPs have signed a letter urging Prime Minister Andy Burnham to take action in the next budget, highlighting the yawning gap in paternity leave provision across different regions of England.

According to HMRC data, a disproportionate share of paternity leave is claimed by higher earners, with only 1. 9% of all government spending on parental leave going towards statutory paternity leave.
